Job Description
Job description
About UsWe’re a new startup, a creative studio developing lifestyle products that blend form, function, and emotional design. Our first project is a travel-focused collection, starting with a personal-item-sized travel bag that transitions seamlessly from airport to everyday work life.
Our mission is to design products that feel as good as they function — calm, intentional, and practical. We’re looking for a designer who can translate ideas into sketches, prototypes, and production-ready specs that make people say, “finally, someone thought of that.”
The Role
You’ll collaborate directly with the founder to bring a concept to life. From early ideation to factory-ready execution. You’ll design the bag’s structure, compartments, and removable laptop/work sleeve system. Beyond this first project, there’s potential to help define our visual design language for future categories like totes, luggage, and accessories.
Responsibilities
Turn briefs into sketches and CAD renderings.
Design structural details and interior systems for travel and work functionality.
Develop complete tech packs (dimensions, BOM, materials, hardware).
Recommend materials, coatings, and trims suited for travel-grade durability.
Support prototype iteration and communicate with manufacturing partners.
(Optional) Support visual brand development — packaging, color stories, and art direction.
What We’re Looking For
Portfolio of soft goods / travel / technical bag design.
Strong understanding of construction, pattern-making, and material behavior.
Skilled in CAD or Illustrator for detailed technical drawings.
Knowledge of technical fabrics and travel hardware.
Communicates clearly and works independently.
Bonus: experience in branding or packaging.
Project Scope & Timing
Phase 1: Concept sketches + refinement (2–3 weeks)
Phase 2: Tech pack + prototype support (3–4 weeks)
Phase 3: Final hand-off + sourcing support (1–2 weeks)
Engagement: Freelance / Contract
Location: Remote (North America timezone overlap preferred)
Compensation: USD $2,000–$5,000 depending on experience
