Job description

TPU / Waterproof Construction)

About the Project

We’re a climate-focused startup developing a new water-holding soft-goods product for outdoor use. The product requires durable, waterproof construction using coated textiles and welded seams.

We’re looking for an experienced technical soft-goods designer to help take a concept through patterning, materials selection, prototyping, and manufacturing-ready documentation.

What You’ll Work On

This role involves supporting the development of a welded soft-goods bag using advanced construction methods. Work may include:
• Material research (TPU-coated, PVC-coated, or other weldable textiles)
• 2D pattern creation suitable for RF welding or heat-sealing
• Seam layout, reinforcement, and panel geometry
• Light 3D surface modeling for form studies
• Prototype refinement and manufacturability feedback
• Preparing tech packs for production partners

We will share full specifications after an NDA.

Required Experience

Please apply only if you have experience with:
• RF-welded or heat-sealed soft-goods
• TPU/PVC-coated textiles
• Dry bags, hydration reservoirs, inflatable products, or other waterproof gear
• Creating production-ready 2D patterns (DXF, AI, etc.)
• Soft-goods prototyping and iteration

Nice to Have
• Outdoor gear, industrial soft goods, or pack design experience
• Experience working with low-volume or early-stage prototypes
• Understanding of load-bearing straps or anchor points (general)
